good morning! I have been a bit absent from cyberspace the last few days due to me feeling super inspired and domestic. i've been feeling better this week than usual, and with the doctor's ok to do as much as i feel i am able at this point, i have taken the opportunity to get lots done before the baby comes. my life is pretty much consumed with painting and washing new (pink!) baby clothes, and decorating and cleaning. feels so good to productive again. i'm a bit freaked out by how pumped i've been to start taking over household chores but i'm sure this too shall pass. however, i'm quite positive my husband is secretly ecstatic.
it is somewhat of a problem to do stuff (especially sit at my art table) when my belly is always in the way, but i'm working through it and trying to pretend it's totally comfortable. i even tried on my favorite vintage apron the other day. HUGE mistake (no pun intended)...i'm now a bit traumatized by it after seeing the photo i took and there's a distinct possibility i'll never wear it again.
see the cuteness:
see the cuteness disappear at an alarming speed (and i don't just mean because it desperately needs ironed):
"OINK."
anyways, without further ado, i shall share some art. warning: this is going to be a totally overloaded post! as always, if you click on the photos they will pop-up bigger so you can see more detail.
first, the february JBS kit is, predictably, quite delicious and fun to work with. i've gotten i think 10 projects out of this one so far and still have lots left over from it. here's a few layouts that went up in the gallery this week:
and i've also been working on a project for above our couch. right now it's totally bare and depressing, so i thought i would make an art collage to go up there.
here's a before shot. lb, who usually has an extreme aversion to photos, randomly decided he wasn't going to get out of this one. pants or no pants, he wasn't budging from his front row spot on the couch for the little bill show. he then proceeded to run away and turn his head the opposite direction when i tried to take advantage and get a couple photos of just him. ornery little bugger. you might also note the he toy lion that is on the little thing on the top right of the photo...that was my husband's african touch to our decor. i love that he did that, so i just leave it and smile everytime i see it.
anyways, i'm trying to keep everything fairly simple so that i can actually get it done...but i'm also going for lots of color. i have been collecting frames from thrift stores as we go to them so there is lots of variety there. i'm also going to try to mix modern bright stuff with some vintage-y looking art. there will also be some of my favorite framed photographs thrown in the mix as well as some shelves i painted.
ok, so i think that might be enough art for one post. and anyways, i'm now inspired to get back to working on my current project...possibly my favorite one i've EVER done! if i finish it today i'll try to come back and share some photos later on.
but first, i leave you with a londerpants story:
so london has been growing so much lately that he's going through shoe sizes like nobody's business. well, we recently got him a new pair at target when my mom and dad were out for new years and he LOVES them. however, it's not a "oh, i really want to put these shoes on and wear them" kind of love. it's more of the "i'm a big boy and therefore i know how to put my shoes away like daddy" kind. so everytime we get them out and lay them beside him, he immediately picks them up, goes to our closet and neatly lines them up next to nate's shoes. which makes his daddy so proud, and causes his mama to breathe a sigh of relief...because we all know that if he were copying everything i was doing there would be one stuck up on the ceiling fan and possibly one wedged clear across the apartment behind the toilet or something.
and with that, i'm off to work on my projects...happy thursday!
xoxo, Cherylp.s. new challenge and give-away winners will be posted soon! :)
love your behind the couch idea! sounds similar to what I want to do. all 5x7 of my fave mix of color and b/w photos + quotes + artwork by my girls + random artwork by various artists.....COOL!

Hi there. I stumbled across your blog somehow (can't remember where) and have enjoyed reading your posts and seeing your colorful creativity. Just wanted to let you know that I love what you do! I have a little boy around the same age as your little guy but my boy is named Landon. I have a little 2 1/2 year old girl too. You are going to love having one of each!
