my girls. oh man, do i love my girls. not only because they have been there for me through the toughest times of my life. not because they have talked me through crying spells, laughed with me when i needed it most, loved my baby a little extra amount when it was just the 2 of us, given me advice and loved me when i felt like no-one else did, but also because when i said i wanted them to have rockstar hair for my wedding, they agreed without hesitation. and the results were absolutely amazing. i honestly never dreamed that everyone would look so perfect. i could have fed off the happiness of liz's hair alone for weeks, i think.
so in my effort to be not a bridezilla (and perhaps actually making it harder on them in the end) paired with my hatred of all things matchy/matchy, i decided to just tell everyone that all they needed was a pink, orange or yellow party dress and a pair of patterned shoes. and they all came through and made it the wedding of my dreams. i love that the colors weren't perfectly matching. i love that there were more of some colors and less of others. and i especially love how fun and colorful it all made my wedding...
but mostly i just love my friends because they were there for my happiest day just like they were there for my darkest. they are all so amazing in their own, unique way. if i could repay them for just half the things they did for me, it would take the rest of my life. and i intend to spend every second of that time trying.
miss marti/maid of honor (mexico): the girl from across the border who makes my day with every phone call and visit. we've been friends forever, and i adore her beyond words. mostly because she gets my sense of humor and matches me, sarcasm for sarcasm. she came 3 days early and did every piece of laundry in my entire house.
the unstoppable liz (chicago, il): my nanny friend that kept me sane in chi-town and introduced me to lots of new things. i so admire her fearless approach at life. there is pretty much nothing she can't do. and that inspires me beyond words (read her non-profit blog here).
the fabulous rebekah (oklahoma city, ok): probably the sweetest person that ever lived. she has been amazing about coming to visit me, encouraging me, and always making my day brighter. she is pure happiness and adventure and unshakable faith. someday i want to become more like her. and i want her teased out white girl 'fro.
miss erin, my sister from another mister (cleveland, oh): we've been friends ever since we both started scrapbooking, but over the years it has turned into way way more than just a friendship about art. no matter how long we go without talking, we can always start right where we left off. it makes me happy just thinking about her. our lives have changed so much since we first met, but she's always has a way of lifting my spirits in a way noone else can. and she rocks her mama gig.
amy, the one that gets me (ft. wayne, in): we've known each other since we were 4. grew up just 3 miles apart. but we didn't become great friends until we grew up. no one laughs with me like amy does. our lives have taken many of the same turns and because of that we have an unbreakable bond. no matter what happens, i know i'll always have a friend in amy. and we will always find something to laugh about.
amanda, my soul friend (rittman, oh): we only just met when i was hugely pregnant with lb last year, but she's married to one of my lifelong best friends and cousin brad and we hit it off from the very beginning. i can tell her anything and trust that it will go nowhere. and i know that we will be great friends for years to come. she has the most beautiful soul.
i am blessed beyond words with the greatest friends that ever lived.
